1. Wash Your Hands Thoroughly
Start by washing your hands with soap and warm water. Dry them with a clean towel. This step makes sure you don’t transfer oils, dirt, or germs to your lenses or frames.
2. Rinse Your Glasses Under Lukewarm Water
Hold your glasses under lukewarm running water to remove dust and debris. Avoid hot water, which can damage lens coatings. This rinsing step helps prevent scratches that can occur if you rub grit into your lenses.
3. Apply a Small Drop of Lotion-Free Dish Soap
Put a tiny drop of lotion-free dishwashing liquid on each lens. Use your fingertips to gently rub the soap over both sides of the lenses and the entire frame, including nose pads and the parts that rest on your ears. Avoid household cleaners, alcohol, or saliva—they can damage lenses or spread bacteria.
4. Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse the glasses well under lukewarm water to wash off all soap. Residual soap can cause smearing or residue on the lenses when drying.
5. Dry with a Soft Microfiber Cloth
Use a clean, soft microfiber cloth to dry your glasses. Avoid paper towels, tissues, or your clothing, which can scratch the lenses. Never air dry your glasses, as water spots can form.
6. Inspect and Touch Up
Hold your glasses up to the light to inspect for smudges or streaks. If needed, gently polish using the microfiber cloth.
